MathVision

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 July 2026 · Applies to the MathVision mobile app for iOS and Android.

This policy explains what personal data the MathVision app collects, why we collect it, who can see it, and what you can do about it.

The short version. The app exists so families and our office can message each other and arrange sessions. We collect the contact details needed to run that, the messages you send, and the bookings you make. We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

1. Who we are

The MathVision app is operated by MathVision Enrichment Centre Pte Ltd (UEN 200712084Z), of 1 Claymore Drive, Orchard Towers Rear Block, #08-12, Singapore 229594 ("MathVision", "we", "us"). We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

For any privacy question or request, contact our Data Protection Officer at mathvision.com.sg@gmail.com.

2. What the app is for

MathVision is a private app for families enrolled at our tuition centre and for our own staff. It replaces messaging our office over WhatsApp, and it lets families request tuition sessions. Accounts are created by us or by a parent — the app is not open to the general public.

3. What we collect

CategoryWhat it includesWhy
Account details Name, email address, mobile number (optional), role (parent, student, staff), the household you belong to, and for students the grade level and school. To sign you in, to show the right person's name on a message, and to route your questions to the right team.
Messages and attachments The text of messages you send in the app, and any photos, documents or voice notes you attach (typically homework and worksheets), including the file name, type, size and — for a voice note — how long the recording is. To deliver them to the people you are writing to, and to keep the conversation history you and our staff both rely on.
Session bookings The student, subject, topic, preferred times, duration, mode (in person or online), any notes you add, the outcome, and any rating or feedback you leave. To schedule sessions and keep a record of what was arranged.
Calls Who called whom, when, and how long the call lasted. We do not record call audio. So the office can see that a call happened and follow up.
Device and notifications A push notification token and your device platform (iOS or Android). Solely to deliver notifications for new messages and booking updates.
Centre records An internal reference linking your app account to your existing record in our centre's own system, plus your course enrolments. So the app shows your real courses and the office is not maintaining two separate lists of families.

What we do not collect

4. Children and student accounts

Many of our students are under 18, and some are under 13. Student accounts are created by a parent or guardian, or by our office at a parent's request — a child cannot open an account on their own.

A parent or guardian in a household can see the conversations belonging to that household, including messages sent by their child to our staff. Parents may ask us at any time to review, correct, or delete their child's data, or to close the child's account, by writing to mathvision.com.sg@gmail.com.

We do not direct advertising at children, or at anyone, and we do not profile students for any purpose beyond running their tuition.

5. Who can see your messages

This is the part most people actually want to know, so we are being specific.

6. How we use your data

We use personal data only to:

We rely on your consent, and on the performance of our tuition agreement with you, as our bases for handling this data under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). You may withdraw consent at any time — see section 9 — though doing so may mean we can no longer provide the app.

7. Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. We use a small number of service providers who process data strictly on our instructions:

ProviderWhat they handle
SupabaseHosts the database, file storage, and sign-in. This is where your account, messages, attachments, and bookings live.
ExpoRelays push notifications to Apple and Google.
Apple (APNs) and Google (FCM)Deliver push notifications to your device.
LiveKitCarries in-app voice calls. Audio is not recorded or stored.
SentryReceives a report when the app crashes: the error, where in the app it happened, and which version you are running. Message text, file links and the addresses the app calls are removed before the report is sent.

We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a student or another person.

8. Where your data is held

Our systems and the providers above may store or process data outside Singapore. Where that happens, we take steps required by the PDPA to ensure a comparable standard of protection to Singapore law.

9. Your rights

We aim to respond to any request within 30 days.

10. How long we keep it

We keep your account and its conversation history for as long as your family is enrolled with us, and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can answer questions about past tuition. Delete your account and the data described above is removed immediately.

11. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access is restricted at the database level by role, so the rules described in section 5 are enforced by the system rather than left to the app to remember. Attachments are stored privately and are only reachable through short-lived links issued to people already in the conversation. No system is perfect, but we take this seriously and review it as the app changes.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and we will tell you in the app if the change is significant.
